Executive, Chemical Lab (C&P) — SGS Bangladesh Limited
Profile
Md Ashiqul Islam is an analytical chemist specialising in spectrometric and instrumental methods applied to food safety, water quality, and chemical manufacturing. He currently serves as an Executive in the Chemical Lab, C&P at SGS Bangladesh Limited, Dhaka, where he conducts physical and chemical testing of food and water using UV-Vis spectroscopy (APHA method), metal analysis by ICP-OES, crude protein testing by GAFTA method, and moisture, ash, energy, fat and carbohydrate assays.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Dhaka and has completed specialised professional training on Chemical Analysis by Spectrometric Methods at the Training Institute for Chemical Industries (TICI), covering UV-Vis, AAS, ICP-OES and ICP-MS instrumentation. Prior industrial experience spans Transcom Beverages Ltd (Quality Control, 2022) and Kohinoor Chemical Company (KCCL) (Cosmetic Chemist, 2021–2022), giving him applied grounding in formulation development, stability testing, and compliance with manufacturing safety and regulatory protocols.
As a member of the Co-Joint Advisory Team (C-JAT) of the Kekuleon Research and Training Center (KRTC), he contributes to research-oriented advisory discussions, supports the design of academic projects with societal benefit — particularly those touching food safety, water quality, and chemical manufacturing — and helps strengthen workshop-based practical research training for students.
